5.30.2005 | The changing face of VCU

Summer construction projects at VCU are giving the university a new look, chief among them the completion of Brandt Hall (below) and a reconfiguring of the walkway outside James Branch Cabell Library (right). This is just a heads-up to you VCU students out there so you know what to expect when you come back.

The outside of the Cabell Library is greatly improved, since obstructing shrubbery has been removed which allows for a more open and visible entrance, reducing the possibility of crime. The connecting passageway and common entrance for Brandt and Rhoads Hall is also nearing completion.

Clockwise from top left: View of Cabell Library from Compass, connecting passageway between Brandt (new) and Rhoads (old) halls, view of Brandt Hall from street level, view from across the street in Monroe Park.

Take a look at all that glass on those top floors. This is going to be one sweet dorm.
